Who can participate?
If you are an amateur photographer in the graduating Class of 2012 or 2013 in a Genesee County school (public or private), you are able to enter for FREE! Some of these high schools include Davison, Fenton, Flushing, Goodrich, Grand Blanc, Lake Fenton, Linden, Swartz Creek and Powers Catholic.

What’s there to submit and to whom?
Submit a self-portrait (with yourself in it, of course!) to the Jeffrey W. Burger Photography Facebook page. The picture has to be you, yourself, and only yourself. There can be no other persons in the picture besides yourself, but your picture should be unique, creative, and, most of all, it should be you! Have fun, and express yourself! Anything goes (as long as it is legal and in good taste!) and we are open to new ideas.

When are submissions accepted and photos selected?
You can submit your self-portraits after 12:01 a.m. Sunday, January 1, 2012 until the deadline at midnight on Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Voting on Facebook will start on Thursday, March 1, 2012 until Saturday, March 31, 2012. The winner of the 2012 or 2013 Senior Self-Portrait Contest will be announced at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012. The 2012 or 2013 Senior Self-Portrait photo with the most Facebook “Like” clicks wins!

An It’s A Senior Thing… and, We Know It! Photoshoot that includes a hair stylist and make-up artist before your 3-hour on-location photoshoot session with unlimited clothing changes. So, as to continue to express my photographic creativity and artistic abilities, I started doing high school senior photography. And, at Jeffrey W Burger Photography, we know that high school seniors’ pictures have come to demonstrate what places, people, music and events shaped their lives.

And, just like the 60’s generation was defined Nixon’s Resignation and Vietnam; flower power; the love generation; and, hippies; and, the song of this decade…like a Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan.

The 70’s were defined by the song Imagine by John Lennon… times of free thought… openness… love and happiness; and, give peace a chance.

The 80’s was the decade of greed and silly fashions, of Reaganites and Thatcherites… New Wave and Post-Punk music… with lots of synth and drum machines, jangly guitars… party music… dance music…fun music.

The 90’s came to be known as Generation Y (or the Echo Boomers) with greatest songs from Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana; One by U2; I Want It That Way by Backstreet Boys; I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston; and, Vogue by Madonna.

Now, the 2000s known as the Generation Z is being known as one of awareness, caring and action; very active consumers, with a high degree of influence over their parents’ purchasing decisions; highly connected, having had lifelong use of communications and media technologies such as DVDs, the World Wide Web, instant messaging, text messaging, iPods and cellular phones, earning them the nickname Digital Natives.

Generation Z or Net Generation is the generation of young people born after 1991… born after the fall of the Soviet Union and the dawn of the World Wide Web; children of Generation X. They have grown up in a world with terrorists, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, Libya and Middle East unrest, homeland security and a world-wide recession; a widespread equality of the sexes at work and at home, and where single-parent or same-sex parent families are commonplace, as are two-income families.

Generation Z will not disappoint as they will have a strong social conscience and work ethic. Music of Generation Z comes from difference fronts from controversial rapper Eminem to the blend of contemporary country with soulful ’60s R&B’s Lady Antebellum to country-pop’s Taylor Swift.

And, at Jeffrey W Burger Photography, we are contributing to this Generation Z by allowing our photography reveal and express the high school seniors’ thoughts, feelings and ideas… of what is shaping their lives and how it will contribute to the world around them. To accomplish this, Jeffrey W Burger Photography is ready to get “out of the box” and offer seniors’ something unique and different for their entire senior photoshoot experience… enjoy reading our Burger Blog for Seniors!

Brooke, enjoy your sneak peak with your family, including your dad, mom (we hope her hand is healing well!) and, of course your friend, Calvin! They were great photographer assistants during your photoshoot at Lake Michigan! It was a real cool place for a photoshoot and we plan on going back… hopefully, we will be more prepared for the enviornment!

We know many of you are waiting for winter and the upcoming ‘shred’ season… so, in the meantime, we have created Project X-evan, a fine collection of that which represents both danger and joy of this extreme sport… snowboarding.

Well, this past weekend, we went to one the most popular snowboarding resorts in the local area and met up with Evan and his mom, Sheryl. We were all super motivated to have some fun and excitement to shoot before the real season kicks-off. After all, there was no waiting in lines, not a lot of people (actually, no people at all!)… for that matter, there was not even snow… but we had the park all to ourselves!

Yet, Evan was all over the place and we just followed and had the Canon ready. Snowboarding is a lifestyle… snowboarding and nothing else. Kind of living life without fear… this is Evan!

We were in awe of Project X-evan and are excited to share this sneak peek with you. And, remember… 92-day countdown to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics is fast approaching!

Meet, Katie… the stylish, quite type with a great smile. The camera absolutely loved her!… and, so did we! She was rockn’ some cool styles and brought just the right amount of A-T-T-I-T-U-D-E for her photo shoot session. And, her friend, Alison, who pitched in to assist, was just the best!

And, now we introduce you to Ben, Class of 2010, Goodrich High School. We met Ben when he assisted his friend Sara (Class of 2010, Mt. Morris) during her senior photo session. Ben had a plan… unique and creative, and, stimulating and exciting. Ben chose the Flint, Michigan downtown area for his photoshoot session… an area that is meaningful to him because of the many “high” places… tall buildings, lofty bridges and elevated parking garages. We started early afternoon for this session… the weather was cool and not too windy, the water was as smooth as glass, and, other than a few mosquitoes (we survived!) everything went perfect.
